Dorking.

Dorking sits at the foot of the North Downs, and the water that comes out of the tap here is among the hardest in Surrey. The water is chalky, mineral-rich, and over time it coats the inside of every pipe, every heat exchanger and every kettle in town with limescale. Combi boilers in Dorking properties — particularly older Worcester, Vaillant and Ideal units — lose efficiency far faster than their manufacturer estimates suggest. Plate heat exchangers fur up, divertor valves seize, and showers slow to a trickle.
